This page tracks the current and past versions of Kingdoms and Castles and what changes they brought along. It does not track any builds from the beta branch until they are released.

Version 1.051 - August 1st, 2017[edit | edit source]

Bug Fixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed issue where heads of household could also erroneously join the army.
  • Fixed performance issue if you had a lot of jobs requiring wages and your gold was greater than 0 but less than the amount it took to pay a wage.

Version 1.05 - July 27th, 2017[edit | edit source]

Functionality Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Statues will no longer catch on fire, and tuned fire spreading in general. Still more to do here but it should be better.
  • When fully staffed, foresters now also replant trees on tiles without trees (instead of tiles only with).

New Features[edit | edit source]

  • Added setting for camera keyboard pan speed.
  • Added v-sync setting.

Bug Fixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed math bug on the food tooltip info.
  • Fixed issue where ogre and dragon were still moving when paused.
  • Fixed issue where viking raids could happen back to back.
  • Fixed issue where vikings and armies would sometimes freeze.
  • Fixed issue where roads/bridges couldn’t be built sometimes.
  • Fixed issue where you could get more than three generals by destroying and rebuilding chamber of war.
  • Fixed issue where you could place a rock removal on top of an existing rock removal.

Version 1.04 - July 18th, 2017[edit | edit source]

Balance Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Decreased charcoal consumption for houses, and increased charcoal production at makers.
  • Markets now employ 10 workers, up from 8.
  • Tweaked plague frequency.
  • Viking units have less life.

UI Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Added expanded tool tip info for charcoal.

  • Fixed archer tower range display.
  • Various small bug fixes and tweaks.

  • Fixed some crashes, also fixed slowdown issue from 1.01.

Version 1.01 - July 13th, 2017[edit | edit source]

Balance Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Tools last twice as long and increase production by 50% instead of 10%.
  • Market now has 8 workers, up from 5.
  • Windmill bonuses now stack.
  • Limited single block towers to a height of 3 without an adjacent block to support.
  • Viking invasions on Hard Mode are larger.
  • People can die of old age.
  • Increased range of ballista.
  • Rock removal is now 1 tile instead of 2.

New Features[edit | edit source]

  • Barracks no longer deploy troops to generals, instead General recruit troops using the new UI.
  • Rotate buildings by pressing R or clicking middle mouse (instead of rolling the mouse wheel).

UI Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Added a General UI which shows the army HP and allows the general to recruit troops from the barracks.
  • Re-skin UI and add notes for camera controls and rotating buildings.
  • Added an expanded tool tip info for tools and food (more to come).

Bug Fixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed many of the bugs that were reported in 1.0.
  • Some optimizations.

  • Adjusted worker counts for later buildings, increased the workers at the large stockpile to 10.

  • Added the 'hard' difficulty, which includes a lose condition.
  • Added the first of 3 statues.

  • Added credits screen.

Beta Version 3 - June 16th, 2017[edit | edit source]

Balance Changes[edit | edit source]

  • People can carry 3 charcoal loads at once, which helps with charcoal distribution.
  • Iron deposits and quarries are limited to 2 per deposit.
  • Large fires now require more people to put them out.
  • Renamed Throne Room to Treasure Room, which now stores 1000 gold each.

New Features[edit | edit source]

  • Blacksmith can now also make ‘armaments’.
  • Added barracks, which takes a person, armaments, and some gold and trains a soldier.
  • Chamber of War now appoints Generals.
  • Generals can be directly controlled (left click select, right click move, like most RTSs) and while visiting a barracks can add soldiers to their command.
  • Armies can directly fight the vikings and ogres.

UI Changes[edit | edit source]

  • House happiness bonuses now represented as icons with tooltips instead of a giant wall of text.

  • Viking raids now save and load.
  • Fixed issue which caused mason to stop working.
  • Lots of performance optimizations.

Balance Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Retuned church happiness bonus/radius, added a coverage overlay.
  • Ogres prioritize archer towers, ballistas and walls first, granaries and stockpiles second, and then everything else when choosing a target.
  • Ogres now walk and attack faster, dragons are stronger.

New Features[edit | edit source]

  • Hospital doctors now draw wages
  • Added libraries, they provide happiness in a radius, over time this happiness increases as the library gains more knowledge. Librarians draw wages.
  • It is now possible to remove rocks with the 'Rock Removal Crew'.
  • Kingdom log messages about destroyed buildings now have a clickable eye that'll take you to where the building was on the map.
  • Peasants now can re-route if they are on the way to pick up resources, but new resources become available closer.

Functionality Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Bridges now turn corners and behave like normal roads.
  • Heads of household won't get charcoal until the food in the pantry is greater than 50% *this along with the re-routing change should fix most food distribution issues.
  • Viking ships now sink when all the vikings onboard are killed.

  • Fixed foresters draining their area of trees (we hope).
  • Fixed fire apocalypse bug.
  • Fixed bug where vikings could walk through iron deposits.
  • Some performance optimizations.

  • Tavern happiness radius increased.
  • Foresters are no longer allowed to overlap.
  • Re-tuned eating and food numbers a bit more.

New Features[edit | edit source]

  • Archers and Ballisteers now must be paid twice a year. Their wages are deducted from your gold. If they go a year without pay, they will quit until you have gold to pay again..
  • Added a lot of graphics options in the in game settings menu to help those with older computers get better performance.

UI Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Expanded gold tooltip to show yearly estimates for tax revenue and wages.
